French physicist born 1947, based for most of his career at the Institut d'Optique in Orsay. His doctoral and post-doctoral experiments in the early 1980s produced the first persuasive violations of Bell's inequality with space-like separated measurements. He shared the 2022 Nobel Prize in Physics with Clauser and Zeilinger.
