Alice Kober

An American classicist whose rigorous statistical analysis of Linear B provided the foundation for its decipherment. Kober identified the inflectional patterns of the language, proving it was an inflected tongue with a syllabic structure. Her database of 200,000 index cards allowed her to identify 'triplets' of related word forms before her early death in 1950.
