Bomba

An electromechanical device invented by Polish cryptologist Marian Rejewski to find the rotor settings of the Enigma machine. By simulating several Enigma machines in parallel, it searched for cycles in the indicators at the start of messages. The design was later significantly expanded by Alan Turing and Gordon Welchman into the more powerful British Bombe used at Bletchley Park.
