Concept

chromesthesia

Chromesthesia is sound-to-colour synesthesia. Music, voices, machinery or sudden noises may produce colours, shapes, movement or luminous textures. Some people experience these as images in the mind's eye; others see them projected into external space. The mappings are personal, but often stable enough that a particular instrument or key has a recognisable visual signature.
