Eratosthenes

A Greek polymath (c. 276–195/194 BC) who served as chief librarian at the Library of Alexandria. Renowned for his work in mathematics, geography, and astronomy, he famously calculated Earth's circumference using a novel geometric method. He also devised the 'sieve of Eratosthenes' for finding prime numbers and made early maps of the known world.
