Concept

exomoon

A natural satellite that orbits an exoplanet or another non-stellar extrasolar body. While thousands of exoplanets have been confirmed, exomoons are significantly harder to detect due to their small size and mass. Current theories suggest that the tidal disruption of an exomoon could produce the vast quantities of dust and debris required to explain the irregular dimming observed in some stars.
