Felix Klein

Felix Klein was a German mathematician born in Düsseldorf in 1849, known for linking geometry, group theory, and complex analysis. His 1872 Erlangen programme recast geometries by their transformation groups. The Klein bottle, described in 1882, carries his name because it made visible a new kind of surface: closed, finite, and without a consistent inside or outside.
