fovea

A glowing orange circular pattern resembling a fovea centralis, with radiating lines converging towards a dark center against a black background.

The fovea centralis is a small, specialized depression in the retina packed exclusively with densely arranged cone cells. While it represents less than one per cent of the retinal surface, it utilizes a massive portion of the visual cortex, providing the extreme acuity necessary for reading, driving, and facial recognition.
