Great Barrier Reef

The world's largest coral reef system, stretching over 2,300 kilometres off the coast of Queensland, Australia. It is composed of nearly 3,000 individual reefs and 900 islands. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, it supports a staggering diversity of life, including over 1,500 species of fish. It has been the primary site for research into crown-of-thorns starfish outbreaks since the 1960s.
