Harold P. Brown

American electrical engineer and Edison contractor who, between 1887 and 1890, ran the public demonstrations in which dogs, calves, and a horse were killed by alternating current to discredit Westinghouse. Designed the apparatus used in the first electric-chair execution at Auburn Prison in 1890. Letters seized from his office in 1889 exposed his covert financial relationship with Edison's organisation.
