Swedish evolutionary ecologist at Kristianstad University whose group ran the 2007 TARDIS payload on the Foton-M3 satellite, the first experiment to expose an animal directly to open space. His work helped establish that tardigrades in the desiccated tun state can withstand vacuum and solar UV, and his subsequent papers traced which species and which tissues survive the trip.
