ISM band

A vintage radio with an antenna emits waves, symbolizing the ISM band, which includes frequencies used for industrial, scientific, and medical applications.

The Industrial, Scientific and Medical radio bands, set aside by international agreement for non-communication uses such as heating, welding, and diathermy. Devices in these bands can radiate without coordinating with broadcasters. The 2.45 gigahertz band, used by domestic microwave ovens, also hosts Wi-Fi and Bluetooth — which is why a running microwave can drop your wireless connection.
