Person

Marian Rejewski

A Polish mathematician who first cracked the Enigma's rotor wiring in 1932 using the theory of permutations. He developed the cyclometer and the Bomba, mechanical devices designed to find the machine's daily settings. His breakthrough allowed the Polish Cipher Bureau to read German traffic for years before the war and provided the essential foundation for British cryptanalysis.
