Michael Gazzaniga

Michael Gazzaniga (born 1939) is a leading neuroscientist, often considered the father of cognitive neuroscience. He worked closely with Roger Sperry on pioneering split-brain research, investigating how the two hemispheres of the brain function independently after surgical disconnection. Gazzaniga's work significantly advanced our understanding of brain lateralisation, the nature of consciousness, and the brain's 'interpreter' function.
