Concept

mountain treeshrew

A small, squirrel-like mammal endemic to the mountains of Borneo. It maintains a mutualistic relationship with several large pitcher plant species, most notably Nepenthes lowii. The shrew feeds on sugary exudates produced on the pitcher's lid and, while positioned on a specialised perch, defecates into the trap, providing the plant with essential nitrogen.
