Physarum polycephalum

A species of plasmodial slime mould, commonly known as the 'many-headed slime'. It exists as a single, giant, multinucleated cell that can grow to several square metres. P. polycephalum exhibits problem-solving behaviours such as maze navigation and network optimisation despite lacking a brain or nervous system. Its rapid protoplasmic streaming facilitates nutrient transport and information processing.
