Prussian blue

Prussian blue is a synthetic inorganic pigment with the chemical formula Fe4[Fe(CN)6]3. Discovered accidentally in 1706 by Johann Jacob Diesbach, it was the first modern synthetic pigment and became widely used in art due to its vivid color and stability. It also found applications in medicine, particularly in treating heavy metal and radiation poisoning. Its name comes from the German term *Preußisch blau*, and it played a key role in the discovery of hydrogen cyanide.
