Pyotr Kapitsa

A Soviet physicist, Pyotr Kapitsa was a pioneer in low-temperature physics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1978 for his fundamental inventions and discoveries in the area of low-temperature physics. His 1937 observation of frictionless flow in liquid helium-4 was a pivotal discovery, marking the experimental identification of superfluidity.
