Ron Rivest

An American cryptographer and computer scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Alongside Adi Shamir and Leonard Adleman, he co-invented the RSA public-key cryptosystem in 1977. Rivest also developed several widely used symmetric key encryption algorithms, including RC4, and founded RSA Security to commercialise their cryptographic research.
