Sutton Hoo helmet

An iconic iron and bronze helmet discovered in the Mound 1 ship burial. It consists of a cap, neck guard, cheek pieces, and a face mask featuring a copper-alloy 'dragon' whose wings form the eyebrows. Originally found in hundreds of fragments, it serves as a symbol of the Anglo-Saxon warrior elite and represents some of the finest craftsmanship of the early medieval period in Europe.
