Tardigrades In Space, a European Space Agency payload flown on the Russian Foton-M3 capsule in September 2007. Dehydrated tardigrades were mounted on the outside of the spacecraft and exposed for ten days to hard vacuum, cosmic radiation, and unfiltered solar ultraviolet. A measurable fraction of one species, Milnesium tardigradum, revived on return and produced viable eggs.
