Thaumoctopus mimicus

The mimic octopus, first described in 2001 after its discovery in Indonesia. A small cephalopod with a total length of sixty centimetres, it is unique for its ability to assume the appearance and movement of multiple other species. It primarily inhabits silty, shallow estuaries rather than the complex coral reefs favoured by its relatives.
