Concept

the interpreter

The 'interpreter' is a concept proposed by Michael Gazzaniga to describe the left brain's tendency to construct plausible narratives to explain actions and feelings, even when it lacks complete information. Observed in split-brain patients, this mechanism attempts to create a coherent sense of reality, often confabulating reasons for behaviours initiated by the disconnected right hemisphere, highlighting the brain's drive for consistency.
