A German research university in Lower Saxony whose AG Mouritsen group, led by neurobiologist Henrik Mouritsen, has become the world's leading laboratory for animal magnetoreception. The lab built specialised electromagnetically shielded wooden huts on the campus periphery — ordinary buildings produce too much electrical noise — in which migratory songbirds can be tested under controlled field conditions.
