Concept

viscoelasticity

Viscoelasticity is the property of materials that exhibit both viscous and elastic characteristics when undergoing deformation. A viscoelastic fluid, such as many liquid soaps, acts partly like a liquid and partly like an elastic solid. This allows the fluid to store energy during the impact of a pour and maintain the structural integrity of a thin, leaping jet without it breaking into droplets.
