You can only see 0.0035% of all light that exists. The rest of reality is invisible to you. Your eyes are nearly blind to the universe. The electromagnetic spectrum is enormous. Radio waves have wavelengths kilometers long. Gamma rays have wavelengths smaller than atoms. Visible light—the tiny slice you can see—sits in the middle, wavelengths between 380 and 700 nanometers. That's it. That's your window to reality. Below visible light is infrared. Every warm object emits it. You're glowing in infrared right now. Snakes use it to hunt in darkness. Above visible light is ultraviolet. Bees see it. Flowers have UV patterns invisible to us but bright as neon signs to pollinators.
