Concept

Dyson sphere

A theoretical megastructure first proposed by physicist Freeman Dyson in 1960. It describes a vast system of orbiting solar collectors that completely or partially encompasses a star to capture its entire energy output. While a staple of science fiction and SETI research, no empirical evidence for such a structure has ever been confirmed, though it remains a hypothetical solution for anomalous stellar dimming.
