Fan Ye

Fan Ye, a fifth-century Liu Song historian, is depicted wearing traditional attire with a bun hairstyle, symbolizing his historical significance in compiling the Book of the Later Han.

Fifth-century Liu Song historian (398-445 CE) who compiled the Book of the Later Han, the standard history of the Eastern Han dynasty. His biography of Zhang Heng is the principal source for the seismoscope: 196 characters describing its appearance, the Longxi episode, and a fragmentary hint of its workings. Fan Ye was executed for involvement in a failed coup before completing the work.
