The first specialist mathematics journal in the world devoted to set theory, topology, and the foundations of mathematics, founded in Warsaw in 1920 by Wacław Sierpiński, Zygmunt Janiszewski, and Stefan Mazurkiewicz. Through the interwar decades it was the central organ of the Polish mathematical school, publishing Banach, Tarski, Kuratowski, and Sierpiński. The 1924 Banach-Tarski paper appeared in volume six.
