Place

Gimli

A small town with a runway intersecting through its center, surrounded by autumn-colored trees and houses, under a soft, golden sky.

A small Manitoba town on the western shore of Lake Winnipeg, settled by Icelandic immigrants in 1875. From 1943 to 1971 it hosted RCAF Station Gimli, a pilot-training base; after closure, its runways were partly repurposed for motorsport. Today the surviving runway operates as the Gimli Industrial Park Airport, a regional general-aviation field.
