Gustav II Adolf

A regal figure wearing a black crown adorned with gold and jewels, dressed in an ornate dark blue robe with fur-lined shoulders and intricate gold embroidery, symbolizes Gustav II Adolf, the Swedish king known for his military prowess during the Thirty Years' War.

King of Sweden from 1611 to 1632, known in English as Gustavus Adolphus. Inherited a war with Denmark at sixteen, fought another with Poland, and intervened decisively in the Thirty Years' War on the Protestant side, dying at the battle of Lützen in 1632. Reformed the Swedish army into one of the most disciplined in Europe and, as the Vasa attests, took a close and not always helpful interest in his navy.
