A large, intricate circular structure with concentric rings and illuminated details is shown within a spacious industrial setting, representing the ITER tokamak under construction in Cadarache, France.

An international fusion experiment under construction in Cadarache, southern France, jointly funded by China, the European Union, India, Japan, Russia, South Korea, and the United States. Its tokamak — the largest ever built, with a plasma volume of 840 cubic metres — is designed to produce 500 megawatts of fusion power from 50 megawatts of input heating. First plasma is currently scheduled for the 2030s.
