Johnson Space Center

A large, circular chamber with a NASA logo prominently displayed on its back wall houses a spacecraft, surrounded by structural beams and lighting fixtures, indicative of the Johnson Space Center's historic testing facility.

NASA's centre for human spaceflight, located in Houston, Texas. Its giant Chamber A, built to test the Apollo spacecraft, was repurposed for Webb's end-to-end cryogenic vacuum test in 2017. The telescope spent a hundred days inside, chilled to operating temperature, while engineers verified that the mirrors held their figure under flight conditions.
