Swedish vice admiral and naval administrator, born 1592, who oversaw the construction and sea trials of the Vasa on the crown's behalf. Conducted the heeling test in summer 1628 and chose not to report its alarming result up the chain. Later commanded Swedish fleets in the Baltic during the Thirty Years' War, and was killed in action against the Danes off Femern in 1644.
