Larcum Kendall

A portrait depicts a man with gray hair and a mustache, dressed in historical attire including a black coat, white shirt, and brown bow tie, set against a dark background.

English watchmaker (1721–1790) commissioned by the Board of Longitude to produce a working copy of Harrison's H4. His K1, finished in 1769, accompanied Captain James Cook on his second voyage (1772–1775) and proved that Harrison's design was reproducible. Kendall went on to make K2 and K3, simpler and cheaper versions; K2 famously sailed on HMS Bounty with Fletcher Christian.
