A US Department of Energy national laboratory in Livermore, California, founded in 1952 primarily for nuclear weapons research. It has also been a central player in EUV lithography: in the 1980s and 1990s, Livermore physicists developed the multilayer molybdenum-silicon coatings that make EUV mirrors possible, work that was later transferred to industry through the EUV LLC consortium.
