Lionel Penrose

Lionel Penrose was a British psychiatrist and medical geneticist. While primarily known for his work on the genetics of mental disability, he is celebrated in geometry for his 1958 collaboration with his son, Roger, on impossible objects. Together, they developed the Penrose stairs and refined the Penrose triangle, investigating how the brain interprets two-dimensional cues to construct flawed three-dimensional realities.
