Italian physicist at the National Research Council in Bologna who, with Giulio Pozzi and Gian Franco Missiroli, in 1974 sent electrons through an electron biprism one at a time, recording each arrival as a dot on a television monitor. The accumulated pattern reproduced the double-slit fringes from individual quanta. A nearly identical experiment by Tonomura's group in Japan in 1989 became more widely known.
