Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque

The Quwwat-ul-Islam Mosque's courtyard features a central hexagonal structure surrounded by arches and minarets, showcasing the historical blend of Islamic and Hindu architectural elements.

The earliest surviving mosque in Delhi, begun in 1192 by Qutb-ud-din Aibak on the site of a demolished Hindu and Jain temple complex. Its courtyard, ringed by reused temple columns, encloses the Iron Pillar — which predates the mosque by nearly eight hundred years and was almost certainly already standing on the site, or brought in as a trophy, when the mosque was raised around it.
