South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club

The South Fork Fishing and Hunting Club was a private resort founded by Pittsburgh industrialists and financiers around the former Lake Conemaugh reservoir. Its members used the property for fishing, boating, and summer retreats. The club's ownership of the weakened South Fork Dam became central to public anger after the 1889 flood, though survivors failed to win damages in court.
