Thomas Parnell

Thomas Parnell (1881–1948) was a British-born professor of physics at the University of Queensland, Australia. In 1927, he initiated the famous Pitch Drop Experiment to demonstrate the high viscosity of pitch to his students, unknowingly starting the world's longest continuously running laboratory experiment. He passed away before witnessing any of the drops fall.
