Vasamuseet

A grand hall with a large wooden ship on display, illuminated by natural light streaming through tall windows, showcasing the interior of Vasamuseet in Stockholm.

Purpose-built museum on the Djurgården waterfront in Stockholm, opened in 1990, housing the recovered Vasa and the tens of thousands of associated artefacts lifted with her. The hull was sprayed for nearly two decades with polyethylene glycol to displace the water in its waterlogged oak. It is the most-visited museum in Scandinavia, with well over a million visitors a year.
