Let me show you the precision inside every record. A vinyl groove is a continuous spiral carved with microscopic precision. As it spirals inward, a tiny diamond needle traces through it at exactly one point eight to two point two grams of pressure. The groove walls wiggle back and forth - those wiggles are the sound waves of the original recording. Here's what's incredible about the physics. In stereo records, each wall of the groove carries a different channel. The needle moves in three dimensions simultaneously - side to side for left-right separation, and up and down for bass frequencies. The needle tip is about point seven mils wide.
